Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.

A senior political figure commented the incident left him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
