One 60-day journey circling the Australian Coast is being halted days after the tragic passing of an older lady who was abandoned by the vessel on a remote island.

Suzanne Rees had been hiking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the excursion for a break. The ship left without her and went back after some time after the crew discovered the woman was not present.

A major hunt found her person the next day.

Officials are investigating the incident, together with investigators and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer stated that passengers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the rest of the journey had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and earlier engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he further stated that travelers would be issued a full refund, and said the company was working "to organize the return journeys of the passengers via specially arranged planes".
